Goodbye Shame

He bore shame so we don't have to:

Hebrews 12:2 - looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Shame is the silent burden we carry that easily disguises itself. It claims the caverns of the heart and parasites itself onto our worth and frame of mind. Like Arsenic (Arsenic is a highly toxic chemical that has no taste, colour or smell), it poisons our inner man without a trace until the damage is done. And sadly, it doesn't leave because shame is never satisfied. The more we succumb to its power the hungrier it gets. It delights in the walls of beguiled precaution we build from past hurts, present embarrassement and future fears. The walls become its fortress, it's stronghold laying claim to our wings so we never fly as high as we can.

Jesus knew this and he took on this enemy on the cross. He fought  shame and over came it, so we can live in authority over it. When he lifts  our heads, it is the reminder that shame has been defeated. It's boast was crippled by calvary. It has been made a spectacle, a  laughing stock by the blood of Jesus. I don't know what shame is taunting you with; it's a very silent personal battle. Very silent yet loud in our thoughts. I want you to know, Jesus bore that shame, so we have to. Leave it at the cross.
